JMR, Jr.: now a Dallas Voice staff writer

I’m thrilled to announce I recently joined the Dallas Voice as its new staff writer. It’s Texas’ largest and most prominent LGBT media organization. Our weekly print edition includes news, calendar listings, features, commentary and reviews. I’m one of four in our editorial department, so I contribute to everything. I however have the privilege of writing news, features and arts and culture criticism and news. I write about everything from criminal justice to public school districts to visual arts and movie criticism.

A few of my pieces are in my clips folder, but the one I’m proudest of so far is this 1,000+ word feature on the proposed LGBT veterans’ memorial in the Historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

I also interviewed the dynamite Democratic Texas state Senator and Lieutenant Governor nominee Leticia Van de Putte last month, also that week’s cover story. It was my first cover story!

You can contact me at the Voice at russell(at)dallasvoice(dot)com or by phone at 214-754-8710 ext. 124.
